The calendar below shows all the days that we are open to the public. Our normal public running days are on Sundays but there are additional Wednesday running days during the school holidays. Special Events may occur on different days see calendar for details.

Today is our annual steam Gala. We are open for Public Running with steam locos running on both our tracks. Our Garden Railway will be open for viewing – this is where our smaller trains run. Our model railway exhibits will be open and you will be able to try driving a steam loco using our simulator. There will be trade stands including Tierney Model Railway Shop, Saddletank Books, the B17 Steam Loco Trust and the 45163 Black 5 Restoration Group. We will also be joined be the Chelmsford Model Railway Club who will have one of their layouts in operation. Smaller children are not forgotten with activities including colouring and our ‘Brio’ layout. Homemade cakes, snacks along with hot and cold drinks are available in the clubhouse. Note we will open earlier, at 1.00pm today, closing at 4.30pm |

We are open for Public Running today and will have a display of a small variety of Vintage and Classic British cars for visitors to look at and speak to their enthusiastic owners. At least three of the cars will be at least 100 years old. The Bullnose Morris pictured was featured in the Dr Who episode The Unicorn and the Wasp” and driven by “Agatha Chritie”. Homemade cakes and snacks along with hot and cold drinks are available in the clubhouse. |
